Not Bad…

12Jan08

10:57 in the AM on this lovely Saturday morning…before this whole marathon thing…I would sill be in bed asleep at this time, perhaps with a splitting headache, IYKWIM. Not this Saturday though, and not for any of the next Saturdays for about 3.5 months. Wow. If you know me, you know that’s something to behold. ANYWAY…(I get off task easy, it was always a problem in highschool, and I don’t guess I’ve grown out of it yet)…

Today was our first organized group run that’s part of our training program. We met at Bobby’s house in Heartland to knock it out. There were 13ish of us, maybe 14, can’t remember…that all set out to tackle the 5 miler…4 people showed up for the half-marathon and kinda did their own thing, they started with us but broke off to run 2.5 miles, I guess is what they did, not real sure. Anyway, enough about them…the route was fairly flat, a couple hills, but they weren’t a big deal. In case you were wondering, the mailboxes were NOT brick, but they did have nails coming out of the top, so I refrained from jumping them. I was surprised with everyone, we all stayed close together and didn’t really have to wait on anyone, I’m sure some people might’ve wanted to run slower/faster…but on the long runs it’s probably good to just run with the pack, for motivation, if nothing else. Our time was pretty good, sub 10 min miles on average…see my running log for detailed info (already up)…

Now if you’ll excuse me I’m going to finish my highly nutritional meal of pizza rolls and taquitos with salsa. Until next time…

Oh…and Taylor…thanks for the phone call, I got my 40 push-ups and 100 sit-ups ‘pounded out’…
